Hanson Film Institute Welcomes New Assistant Director

The UA Hanson Film Institute, College of Fine Arts is delighted to introduce you to Kerryn Negus. Kerryn was contracted by the Institute earlier this year as Marketing Manager and was appointed Assistant Director in July 2016.


Kerryn Negus is an arts producer working in film and theatre. In the film industry, Kerryn has worked in acquisitions, development, and marketing and PR. As Vice President of the Los Angeles office of PR agency DDA, her client roster included Miramax Films, New Line Films and Summit International, and she regularly represented films at the Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Berlin and Sundance Film Festivals. In 2003, she moved into theatre, joining with partner Wolfe Bowart to create the touring company SpoonTree Productions. Kerryn has produced more than fifty tours of SpoonTree’s original physical theatre works to countries around the world. A recent

highlight was a national tour of France, including dates at the Festival Effervescence alongside works by Philippe Genty, Daniele Finzi Pasca and James Thiérrée. The company’s tours of Australia have twice been honored with Helpmann Award nominations (the Australian Tony Awards) in the categories of Best Touring Production and Best Visual/Physical Theatre Production. In September 2016, SpoonTree will premiere in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival.


In 2015, Kerryn co-produced the Tucson Festival of Films, working with the city’s tourism and film offices, and secured the participation of Martin Scorsese, Ellen Burstyn and Diane Ladd, among others. She has been working with the Hanson Film Institute since March 2016.
