Women Make Movies, a non-profit media arts organization that facilitates the production, distribution, and exhibition of independent films by and about women, has released the Hanson Film Institute produced documentary APACHE 8 on vimeo for download rental viewing. Directed and produced by Hanson Fellow Sande Zeig, APACHE 8 tells the story of an all-women wildland firefighter crew from the White Mountain Apache Tribe, who have been fighting fires in Arizona and throughout the U.S., for over 30 years. The film was premiered in 2011 by the National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian and has been broadcast on public television stations nationally over 2000 times.
